About the position:
The Valley Forge Christian Church is seeking a person to share preaching and youth ministry responsibilities, with a long term intent of becoming a full time part of the ministry team. This position will begin with a time investment of approximately 20 hours a week, to include Sunday and Wednesday services. The elders are committed to providing whatever the youth program needs. The financial package for the Associate Minister includes a spacious, modern parsonage 20 minutes from the Seminary, and near the church located in the Valley Forge Community of Elizabethton, TN. The package also includes a weekly salary and an opportunity to work with a experienced pastor and preacher. Some youth ministry and preaching experience required.
Responsibilities include:
- Take over Preaching responsibilities for Wednesday
Evening services, Youth Night, and when the senior minister
is away. - Work with Education and Youth Ministry Teams to oversee
curriculum, staffing of classes, and develop age-appropriate
groups and activities that meet the spiritual and social needs
of young people. - Assist in integrating young adults into the ministries and
services of the church. - Contribute to the worship services as needed.
- Work as a team with the senior minister and be available for
weekly staff meetings. - Promote Camp and help coordinate Youth at TCTC.
- Attend monthly board meetings.
- Counsel youth and youth team as needed.
- Maintain church webpage and update monthly.

We are a friendly, family oriented, mission minded congregation committed to Christ and to caring about others! The congregation is growing and we need to meet a need among the young people, as well as staff for further growth.There is only the senior minister and a children’s director currently. The elder’s and deacons work well together helping each other on projects around their homes and the church. We are working on men’s breakfasts and retreats. The youth sponsors spend a lot of time around several swimming pools among the members. The men do a lot of fishing and hunting together as well. The women also enjoy quilting.
