MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Aug. 20, 2025) – Milligan University has been recognized as one of the best colleges in the nation by two entities that specialize in measuring value, student outcomes and overall excellence.

Milligan was recently recognized by Money on the publication’s annual Best Colleges in America list. Milligan has also been designated as a College of Distinction for the 2025-26 academic year by Texas-based Colleges of Distinction.

“The recent recognition we have received from Money and Colleges of Distinction confirms that Milligan offers excellent academic programs that prepare young men and women for success,” said Milligan President Dr. Stephen Waers. “Our approach to a Christ-centered education has been a cornerstone of our mission since our founding in 1866, and we remain committed to empowering young men and women to lead and serve.”

Colleges of Distinction noted Milligan’s meaningful student-faculty collaboration through experiential learning, active campus community and stellar student outcomes. They also recognized Milligan as a College of Distinction for its Business, Education, Engineering and Nursing programs.

Additionally, Milligan was named as a Christian College of Distinction and designated as a Career Development College of Distinction for its focused work in matching students with internships and other experiential learning opportunities.

“We are so impressed to see how Milligan brings life to the traditional undergraduate experience,” said Tyler Schritter, chief operating officer of Colleges of Distinction. “With a welcoming community, an immersive curriculum and strong support networks, Milligan is undoubtedly nurturing the growth of tomorrow’s leaders.”

The Money list highlights the country’s top value schools based on graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, alumni salaries and other metrics. Milligan is one of 18 Tennessee higher education institutions to earn this recognition.

“This recognition is a direct reflection of the excellent work being done by our students, faculty and staff,” Waers said. “Our people are the heart and soul of our institution, and they put our mission into action on a daily basis.”
