Stacey Kastens
Program Director and Assistant Professor of Social Work
Stacey Kastens is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Milligan University, where she teaches both required and elective social work courses. She also serves as the Program Director, overseeing the administration, development, and growth of the social work program at Milligan. Her areas of expertise include developmental disabilities, mental health, home care, and medical social work, with a particular interest in supporting those experiencing homelessness and seniors.
Stacey has actively participated in the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count for Washington and Carter counties over the past three years, taking on a leadership role for Carter County during the most recent count. This initiative, mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, tracks individuals experiencing homelessness. Earlier in her career, she worked as a trainer for the University of Kentucky, helping develop and implement a statewide training curriculum for service providers working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
A lifelong Christian, Stacey was raised in a Christian home and became a follower of Christ at a young age. It was through the pastor at her home church that she was introduced to Milligan College, where she felt a strong sense of calling to further her education. After graduating, she served alongside her husband in two local churches—first in Louisville, KY, and later in Nashua, NH.
Stacey is grateful to have returned to her alma mater, where she enjoys reconnecting with faculty, both current and retired, and witnessing the growth of the campus and the student body.
