MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Oct. 24, 2025) – The Milligan University Orchestra, under the direction of Milligan’s Area Chair of Music, Dr. Kellie Brown, will present the concert “Baroque, Blues, and Broadway” on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Chapel.

Celebrating the rich diversity of the orchestral repertoire, the concert presents works in the blues and Broadway genres alongside beloved Baroque masterpieces. This performance will include stage music from Fiddler on the Roof and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Baroque works such as Albinoni’s “Concerto in G” and Purcell’s “Overture to King Arthur.” “The Memphis Blues” by W. C. Handy and “Rondo in Blue” by Robert Longfield will complete the thematic trio.

“It is always exciting to present orchestral music from such different genres in conversation with each other,” Brown said. “This allows for creating new connections that might be missed otherwise. It also means that there is something for everyone to enjoy regardless of their musical background.”

This concert will also showcase the talent of Milligan music faculty members, including organ professor Rebecca McClain performing Handel’s “Organ Concerto in A,” and voice faculty members Dr. Noah DeLong and Professor Alena Carhart singing music by Leonard Bernstein: “Make Our Garden Grow” from Candide and “One Hand, One Heart” from West Side Story.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, visit or contact the music office at music@milligan.edu or 423.461.8723
