Milligan University is pleased to announce that undergraduate tuition will not increase for the 2026-27 academic year. Additionally, Milligan has significantly increased its academic merit scholarships for both first-time freshmen and transfer students.
“Our decision to keep undergraduate tuition rates flat for the upcoming academic year while increasing our academic merit scholarships underscores our commitment to ensuring an excellent Christian liberal arts education remains attainable,” said Milligan president Dr. Stephen Waers. “The net price of a Milligan education is extremely competitive with both state and other private institutions, and we are taking steps to ensure that continues.”
Tuition at Milligan rose just 1% for the 2025-26 academic year, well below the 3.7% inflation rate projected by the Higher Education Price Index (HEPI). The decision to keep undergraduate tuition rates flat for the 2026-27 academic year signifies another step toward keeping a quality education within reach for students and their families.
Milligan has also bolstered its academic merit scholarships for first-time freshmen and transfer students who achieve academic excellence. In addition to the university’s Jeanes Honors Scholarships – full-tuition scholarships that are awarded to two undergraduate students each year – Milligan has substantially increased multiple academic merit scholarships at the point of admission to qualifying students.
The university will also continue to provide need-based grants and scholarships. Over 95% of all Milligan undergraduate students receive scholarships and/or need-based grants from the university.
Milligan is currently ranked No. 11 among the Best Value Schools in the South by U.S. News & World Report due to its strong academic quality and comparatively low cost of attendance. The university is also ranked among the top 25 Best Regional Universities in the South by U.S. News.
Among universities located in Tennessee, Milligan is the second highest-ranked school in both the Best Value and Best Regional Universities categories. Milligan is the highest-ranking school in Northeast Tennessee on both lists.
