Milligan professors, alumnus receive PA/Physician Team of the Year award

TAPA PA Physician Team of Year 2022

MILLIGAN, TENN. (Nov. 9, 2022) – Two professors and an alumnus of Milligan University’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program were awarded the PA/Physician Team of the Year award by the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA).

Adjunct professors, Dr. Randy Belt and Dr. John Kitsteiner, and Bailey Jessee, a 2021 graduate, were recognized at the 2022 TAPA Fall Fest Conference in October.

Belt and Kitsteiner serve as emergency medicine physicians and Jessee works as an emergency medicine physician assistant at Greeneville Community Hospital in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Andrew Hull, area chair and director of Milligan’s PA program, presented the award to the trio earlier this week as they worked together in the hospital’s emergency room.

“This PA and physician team works well together to provide excellent care for their patients,” said Hull. “Dr. Belt and Dr. Kitsteiner taught Bailey in our program, and Bailey did his emergency medicine rotation with them during the clinical phase. This training experience helped them to develop into a strong team that continues to provide exceptional care together.”

The TAPA PA/Physician Team of the Year award is given to a team that exemplifies a collaborative relationship between PAs and physicians to provide medical service to their patients and their community beyond what either would be able to do alone.

“Healthcare is certainly a team effort, and good patient outcomes are often determined by strong teams,” shared Hull. “It is great to see our well-trained graduates and faculty members working together to serve their patients in the best way possible.”
