MU Juried Art Show

MILLIGAN UNIVERSITY, Tenn. (April 6, 2022)—The 26th Juried Art Exhibition will open Sunday, April 10, with an opening reception from 2-4 p.m. in the Milligan Art Gallery located inside Derthick Hall. The exhibit will remain open until April 21. The event is free and open to the public.

The Juried Art Exhibition showcases the talents and skills of Milligan art, photography, graphic design and interactive media design students. Each year, the university selects a juror to hand pick the work to be displayed in the exhibit.

This year’s juror is Northeast Tennessee artist and designer Alice Salyer. In her role as digital lab manager at William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, Virginia, she instructs students of all ages in the use of digital tools.

Salyer’s fine art is exhibited regionally and nationally, as well as receiving national acclaim in Creative Quarterly’s 100 Best of 2019. Commercial art awards include numerous ADDY awards and other industry recognition. She is a graduate of East Tennessee State University’s MFA program with an emphasis in graphic design.

“It’s always exciting to see which works the juror selects,” said Art Brown, professor of graphic design at Milligan. “The expertise and background of our juror in traditional and digital media also adds to that excitement. We invite everyone to the opening reception to see the excellent work created this academic year and to support their classmates and students.”

Awards of excellence and merit will be given to standout pieces.
