Michael Sweeney
Professor of World Mission and New Testament; Director of the Master of Christian Ministries Program
Dr. Michael Sweeney is a Professor of World Mission and New Testament at Emmanuel Christian Seminary at Milligan and Director of the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry program. With expertise in missiology, New Testament studies, and Bible translation, he has spent 15 years working with Pioneer Bible Translators (PBT) in Papua New Guinea. Dr. Sweeney is passionate about equipping students for ministry through both rigorous academics and personal mentorship, encouraging them to integrate faith and learning for global impact.
He holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia, where his research focused on the ecclesiology of the Pastoral Epistles. Dr. Sweeney has also published articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to a missions textbook. He enjoys working with motivated students and colleagues to prepare future leaders for service in the church and the world.
