Katie Banks

Katie Banks is the University Archivist and Information Resources Librarian at Milligan University. Her research focuses on Milligan, the Stone-Campbell Movement’s history, social history, and instruction with and about primary sources and archives.

At Milligan, she oversees all functions of the Holloway Archives at Milligan and the Helsabeck Archives of the Stone-Campbell Movement, which includes collection, preservation, outreach, and instruction pertaining to the two archives. In addition, she oversees new book and media acquisitions and processing.

Banks’ notable achievements include developing a program of archival and primary source literacy instruction at Milligan that can be integrated into classes, now reaching over 100 students a year. She has also made research contributions to Tennessee Archivists: The Newsletter and SOLO, a newsletter for the Society of American Archivists.
Banks most appreciates the support and friendship of the tight-knit community at Milligan that includes faculty, staff, and students. She is very involved at Hopwood Memorial Christian Church on the edge of campus where she serves as a deacon, youth sponsor, and musician.
