Jeff Miller

Dr. Jeffrey Miller is the Vera Britton Chair of Bible and Professor of Bible. He teaches two of Milligan’s foundational courses, “God’s Story in the Old Testament” and “God’s Story in the New Testament.” His research interests include the process of the Bible developing over the centuries, from the authors up to modern translations. Dr. Miller’s other research specialty is women in Christian leadership.

Dr. Miller’s notable achievements include receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 from Christians for Biblical Equality. He has published articles in multiple journals and compilations, including the journals Bible Translator and Priscilla Papers.

At Milligan, Dr. Miller finds great fulfillment in mentoring students in the classroom and beyond. He particularly enjoys maintaining relationships with students once they graduate and are pursuing their careers and passions as alumni.

Dr. Miller has been immersed in the Restoration Movement, also known as the Stone-Campbell Movement, since birth. His personal faith journey has played an integral role in shaping his academic and professional life. Growing up, he was deeply influenced by how his parents and grandparents nurtured him within the Christian faith. He invests his time at his local church, particularly in the areas of worship, teaching, and youth ministry.
