Milligan is a tight knit community with endless opportunities to get involved. Whether you’re interested in joining a pickup game of Ultimate Frisbee, playing in a Jazz Combo, making a run for a Student Government office, or joining one of the other forty-plus student led clubs & organizations on campus, there is a place for you at Milligan.

With more than 40 social, service, honorary, and professional organizations and clubs on campus, there is something for everyone. Our student clubs promote spiritual and personal growth, build a sense of community, and develop lasting leadership and relationship skills.

Academic Focused Clubs

Alpha Chi

Alpha Chi is a collegiate national honor society. The association is open to juniors and seniors in the top 10% of their class with a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Alpha Psi Omega

Alpha Psi Omega , the national theatre honorary society, is active on campus with membership based on a point system whereby points are earned by participating in the many facets of theatre work on campus. Popular current projects include sponsoring the yearly Festival of One Act Plays and a touring production that travels to area public schools.

National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS)

The vision of the NSLS is to be an organization that educates, develops, and supports leaders at Milligan College for the purpose of having a positive influence through leadership and service here at Milligan and the broader community.

National Association for Music Educators (NAfME)

A group dedicated to advancing music education by encouraging the study and making of music by those for a passion of music, as well as future music educators.

Omicron Psi

Omicron Psi is a national honor society for non-traditional students. The association is open to juniors and seniors at least 24 years of age, with a grade point average of at least 3.0.

Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is an honorary history society with more than 270,000 members in over 850 chapters in colleges and universities across the United States . Phi Alpha Theta ‘s mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and exchange of learning and ideas among historians. Milligan history students established the Alpha Iota Tau chapter of Phi Alpha Theta during the Spring 2001 semester.

Psi Chi is the national Honor Society in Psychology for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology.

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club exists to encourage Spanish culture and language appreciation while hosting several social and educational activities.

Student Nurses Association

The Student Nurses Association is an organization that exists to provide fellowship and student support for those in the nursing major.This organization also provides service and health promotion activities to the Milligan community.

Student Tennessee Education Association

The Student Tennessee Education Association seeks to develop interest in education as a lifelong career, to develop among students preparing to be teachers an understanding of the teaching profession through professional associations, to give students preparing to teach practical experience in working with professional associations on the problems of the teaching profession and society, and to provide students preparing to teach with the history, organization, policies, ethics, and programs of the professional associations.

Campus Activities Board (CAB) assists in the planning of various extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including dances, trips, Wonderful Wednesday, film showings, and musical events.

Club Ultimate

Club Ultimate exists to provide a spiritual and healthy experience through physical activity and controlled competition while playing ultimate Frisbee every Friday afternoon.

Intramurals

Milligan typically offers a number of intramural activities throughout the school year including Ultimate, softball, spike ball, volleyball, flag football, basketball, ping-pong, and disc golf. Depending on interest, activities may be added or removed. Several intramural events are offered on Wonderful Wednesday. Contact Ryan Reynolds, director of intramurals, at ROReynolds@milligan.edu.

Commuter Council seeks to unite and involve commuters in campus life.

The Herd

The purpose of “The Herd” is to increase overall school spirit. They aim to encourage respectful participation at all Milligan sporting events. The Herd will strive to promote a fun, energetic, positive environment for students, athletes and fans.

International Justice Mission

International Justice Mission (IJM) works to bring an end to modern-day slavery and human trafficking. Milligan’s Campus Chapter of IJM joins this effort by working to raise student aw

Investment Club

The Milligan Investment club seeks to provide members with a hands on learning experience in the world of investing. Members take part in simulations to provide realistic and safe opportunities to learn about making investment choices.

LINC

Linking Individuals to the Needs of the Community (LINC) serves as a hub for coordinating individual students with local community service organizations and also provides the college with opportunities to partner with national service initiatives.

Multicultural Engagement

Multicultural Engagement Committee is part of the Campus Activities Board that aims to make Milligan a genuinely multicultural Christian community by affirming the worth of all human beings and affirming the value and significance of the human cultures and communities that have developed over the centuries.

Sanctuary

Sanctuary is a group established to provide, in Christian context, support for students who identify with or wish to minister to members of the LGBTQ+ community. The group meets weekly, and all are welcome.

Social Work Club

The Social Work club seeks to increase personal and professional growth within its membership with excellence in integrity, service, social justice, competence within the field of social work, valuing human relationships, and treating all people with dignity and worth. They will provide an environment of collaboration, support, and growth for students on a trajectory to enter the social work profession.

The Stampede

The Stampede is Milligan’s student run newspaper. It exists to serve and strengthen the college community by reporting news and providing information of interest and importance to students, faculty, staff members and the entire college community; serving as a forum for members of the community (primarily students) to share their ideas and opinions; and encouraging responsible, informed involvement in the community.

Student Government Association

Student Government Association ( SGA ) exists to formulate and execute a Christian student government whose duties are to stimulate communication and cooperation among students, faculty, and administration. It also helps to coordinate student activities, to participate in the determination of college procedures, to labor in the interest of improving academic standards and to develop a greater spirit of progressive citizenship. SGA holds open meetings and anyone can come and voice concern. Voting membership consists of class presidents and representatives, the residence hall presidents, a commuter representative, and the executive council.

The Recycling Club exists to help spread awareness and knowledge of recycling on campus for effectiveness in the community.

WUMC – Milligan Radio

WUMC, Milligan University Radio, seeks to provide the University with a quality radio station by giving students and volunteers broadcast experience.

Faith Focused Clubs

Apostolos

Apostolos Student Missions Club exists to advance the work of mission around the world, in the local community, and among the student body.  Raising awareness through on-campus programming and engaging in outreach projects and short-term mission trips, Apostolos aims to enable students to be on mission with God.

Milligan University Catholic Club

Also known as Milligan Universal (catholic means universal), this club exists to build a Catholic community on campus that educates others about Catholicism and participates in community outreach. The club meets every other week

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) : Open to all students, this ministry addresses the mutually benefiting opportunities for religion and sports and serves the unique dynamics of student athletes. FCA hosts monthly events qualifying for the spiritual formation program, weekly small groups and bible studies, retreats, and Christian leadership seminars.

Heritage

Heritage shares the Milligan spirit in churches and area civic organizations throughout the region; also at college functions. This auditioned a cappella ensemble consists of eight members. Heritage is Milligan’s premier traveling ensemble. They have performed for many churches, community, and civic groups, and regularly represent the college around the country. With more than 30 years history, the group is regularly sought after for their distinct a cappella style and presentation.

LXI

LXI-(Isaiah 61)–Formerly One7, the purpose of the organization is to cultivate a community of Milligan Students whose goal and desire is to creatively reach out and share Christ’s love and compassion to the at risk and underprivileged youth of the inner city of Johnson City in diverse ways

Vespers

Vespers is a weekly student-led worship service that takes place Sunday nights at 8:30 on campus.  With a long history at Milligan, Vespers provides a community where students can connect with others, grow in faith, and be challenged to live the Gospel.

As part of the educational process at Milligan University, we provide students with the working knowledge of diverse subjects. Milligan does not necessarily endorse all viewpoints presented but encourages students to think through these issues from a Christian worldview.
