Lead Pastor

Limestone Cove Methodist Church is a rural independent Methodist church in Unicoi, TN. We are a small Christian mountain community based on God’s teachings. Our area is surrounded by God’s creations including beautiful creeks, rivers, and streams filled with river trout. The Cherokee National Forest surrounds us and is known for it’s abundant wildlife and outdoor activities.

Reports to: The Pastor Parish Relations Committee

Full-time or part-time: negotiable

Qualifications:

• The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s of Divinity Degree and should have credentials of ordination in the Methodist Church (not affiliated with United Methodist Church or Global Methodist Church) or the equivalent, and at least five years of pastoral experience. Experience may be substituted for education.

Limestone Cove is seeking a new Lead Pastor to: lead the church towards the fulfillment of its purpose as taught in Scripture and as stated in its Bylaws and to preach the word of God to the mutual edification, instruction and discipline of its members and believers; winning of the unsaved to Christ; helping young Christians develop their spiritual lives; instructing children in the Word of God; and furthering the cause of Christ. Responsibilities include:

• Teach and preach God’s word.
• Maintain oversight of the ministries of the church.
• Be available to the congregation for counsel, weddings, funerals, baptisms, home and hospital visitations, follow-up with visitors, and communion, as able and as needed.
• Be accountable to the Board and ultimately the congregation.
• Have the power of address and serve as an ex officio member of all boards and committees of the church but does not have voting rights on said committees.
• Actively contributes to the improvement of the ministry of Limestone Cove Methodist Church and provides prayerful support.
• Functions well with others, treating them with honor and grace.
• Encourages spiritual focus and commitment.
• Spend significant time in prayer and Bible study.
• Participate in evangelism efforts through preaching and giving invitations during worship services, revival, or other special services, visitation, leads weekly Sunday services and Bible study session, and other outreach efforts.
• Be a man of true Christian experience and established character.
• Qualify for this office according to the standards of 1 Timothy 3:2-7.
• The Pastor, when possible, shall moderate all business meetings of the church.
