Job Title: Children’s Ministry Leader/Pastor
Location: First Christian Church
Position Type: Part-Time (10–15 hours/week)
Compensation: $15/hour
Work Setting: Primarily on-site with some flexibility to work from home

First Christian Church is seeking a passionate and committed Children’s Ministry Leader/Pastor to oversee and nurture our Kingdom Kids program, which serves children from birth through 5th grade. We’re looking for someone who is deeply rooted in their faith, has a heart for children, and feels called to lead the next generation into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

This individual will be responsible for the overall vision, leadership, and coordination of our children’s ministry—ensuring that each child is loved, taught God’s Word, and encouraged in their spiritual growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a Christ-centered educational program for children, including Sunday School, children’s church, and mid-week activities as needed
• Plan and implement Vacation Bible School
• Provide oversight and management of the nursery
• Assist Sunday School teachers, including substitute coverage and curriculum selection
• Recruit, train, and support teachers and volunteers
• Organize and maintain volunteer schedules
• Oversee classroom setup, safety, design, and management
• Manage children’s check-in, attendance records, and guest follow-up
• Communicate regularly with parents and the church body
• Develop and manage the children’s ministry budget
• Collaborate with church staff and participate in staff meetings and church-wide events
• Arrive by 9:30 AM on Sundays to ensure preparation, prayer, and readiness for all children’s ministry activities
• Pray regularly for the children, volunteers, and the ministry as a whole

• Experience teaching and working with children in a church or similar setting
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to lead both children and adult volunteers with grace and vision
• Alignment with the mission and vision of First Christian Church

Ministry Schedule

• Sunday School: 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM
• Nursery, Preschool, K–5th Grade Classes: 10:30 AM – end of service
• Wednesday Night Program: 6:45 PM – end of service (service begins at 7:00 PM and lasts approximately one hour)

About Our Pre Service Sunday School

The Sunday School program is currently led by Mrs. Jenny, who provides a vibrant and welcoming class for K–5 students (with flexibility for more mature preschoolers). We are excited to expand on this foundation with a new leader who is ready to build and grow the ministry in exciting new ways.
