This is an exciting opportunity for someone that has a passion for helping children meet Jesus and develop life-long faith in him. The person stepping into this role will have the opportunity to choose their own adventure: leading either early childhood or elementary age children depending on their gifting and passion (while the current Elementary Director will lead the other). The Children’s Minister will be leading a healthy team of volunteer leaders that will create a fun and engaging environment for children to belong, feel safe, and meet and follow Jesus. Greenville First Christian is a healthy, vibrant church that is effective in reaching their community, intentional about being an intergenerational church, and is passionate about raising up the next generation of Christ Followers.
Position Overview: The Children’s Minister will lead their choice of: early childhood or elementary ministry. They will lead a team of volunteer leaders to create effective ministry to children and their families. In this role, the Children’s Minister will provide regular, consistent ministry that will help kids meet and follow Jesus, as well as special special events geared to reach new families and/or disciple children at their level. The Children’s Minister will report directly to the Executive Pastor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow Jesus personally, developing a deep relationship with him that becomes the foundation by which ministry is developed and executed.
- Act as a champion for children inside and outside the church, and throughout the community; ensuring they are represented well and their unique needs are considered in the life of the church.
- Lead a team of volunteer leaders to develop and execute an effective children’s ministry that is aligned with the mission/vision of the church, including consistent programming/ministry (Sundays and Wednesdays) and special events.
- Recruit and train the volunteer leader team to allow the ministry to reach and disciple more and more children.
- Communicate with and minister to parents so they are well informed, supported, and equipped to disciple at home.
- Implement and uphold systems, processes, and policies that will allow the ministry to run effectively, ensure safety, and grow.
- Create and manage a ministry budget that supports and reflects the vision/strategy of the ministry.
- Develop and execute a strategy for reaching new kids/families within the community.
- Oversee the editing of curriculum to be used within the ministry.
- Willingly assist the Greenville First Christian staff with other ministry projects, as needed, to ensure a cohesive ministry to the entire congregation and community.
Job Qualifications:
- 4-year ministry degree or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in full-time Children’s Ministry preferred
- Proven ability to lead a team of volunteers, disciple children, and organize programs and events
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences: kids, volunteers, and parents
- Alignment with and passion for Greenville First Christian’s theological beliefs, vision/mission, and values
- Demonstrated relationship with Jesus; displaying a life of following Jesus closely, professional maturity, high character, and exhibits the Fruits of the Spirit
Benefits and Pay:
- Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000 depending on experience/education
