At Cedar Creek Church of God, we strive to keep it simple. Based on Christ’s commission in Matthew 28, we exist to make, mature, and multiply disciples!  We do this through experiential worship, Bible-based teaching, passionate prayer, Christian fellowship, and acts of service.

Purpose/Goal: To help middle and high school students at Cedar Creek COG become
mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities:

70% Youth Ministry

  • Pray for the teens who will be a part of the ministry of Cedar Creek Youth and for
    each team member.
  • Plan and lead all aspects of junior and senior high youth ministry, including two
    weekly gatherings (Sunday morning and Wednesday night), monthly events,
    conventions, and camps.
  • Disciple teens to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
  • Support teens in the youth group in the local community when able, including, but
    not limited to: sporting events, music recitals, dance recitals, graduation
    ceremonies, etc.
  • Recruit, train, delegate, and encourage adult volunteers for ministry
    effectiveness.
  • Provide parents with recommended resources and ideas to disciple their teens.
  • Work with pastoral and volunteer staff to involve students in ministry, developing
    serving opportunities that will allow teens to grow in their God-given abilities and
    calling.
  • Oversee the annual youth ministry budget in a way that effectively utilizes church
    resources and maximizes ministry opportunities.
  • Provide a positive and biblical example for teens (and their families) at Cedar
    Creek COG.

30% at-large ministries

  • As an associate, you will be expected to help/serve in other areas based on your
    spiritual gifts and interests. For example, music ministry, tech team, local
    outreach, or adult classes.
  • Visitation to hospitals and to shut-ins.
  • Preach in the pastor’s absence.
  • Preach periodically throughout the year at the Senior Pastor’s discretion.

Time Commitments:

  • Doing ministry/preparing for ministry: 40 hours per week
  • Office hours should be determined and maintained in consultation with the Senior
    Pastor and Church Council.

Qualifications:

  • A healthy and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must have a passion for helping teens become the people God created them to
    be.
  • Must be ordained in the Church of God, Anderson, IN or willing to pursue
    ordination.
  • Must show evidence of maturity, responsibility, experience, capabilities and
    personality to the extent that the congregation and community can derive good
    pastoring.
  • Must agree with Church of God doctrine and hold theological commitments
    consistent with the Wesleyan Armenian holiness tradition.
  • Must be teachable, humble, and willing to be held accountable.
  • Must be a team player who is gracious and respectful to leadership, peers, and
    volunteers.
  • College Education, from a Church of God College/University, is desired. Or, a
    willingness to pursue further Biblical or ministerial education from a seminary or
    Bible college in the Wesleyan Holiness tradition.

Oversight:

  • Consistent communication required with Senior Pastor, Church Council, and
    Christian Education Committee.
  • Must attend weekly staff meeting.
