*Update* With the college’s response to the coronavirus, Milligan has cancelled the Milligan Orchestra concert previously scheduled for April 18. For almost 40 years, the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and Milligan College have collaborated to bring quality symphonic music to our region. In a joint concert, JCSO and the Milligan Orchestra will perform masterpieces of the string repertoire and celebrate the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven. The program will include John Rutter’s “Suite for Strings” and the “Adagio for Strings” by Albinoni. Guest organist, Dr. Joby Bell, will perform the Handel Organ Concerto No. 5 with the joint orchestra, under the baton of Milligan Orchestra director Dr. Kellie Brown. The second half of the program will celebrate the works of Beethoven with a performance of his Fifth Symphony, conducted by JCSO’s Dr. Robert Seebacher. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for students. Milligan faculty, staff, and students can attend for free. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting 423-92-MUSIC.
