Jessica Molaskey Masterclass @ Milligan College Gregory Center, McGlothlin-Street Theatre

Prior to this year’s fall musical, Jessica Molaskey, a Broadway performer from the original cast of Songs for a New World, will work with Milligan’s cast during a closed rehearsal. In addition, she will coach select students in a public masterclass, which is open to the public. Molaskey is a veteran of a dozen Broadway shows, including the revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Sunday in the Park with George, which was nominated for nine Tony Awards. She has appeared in A Man of No Importance at Lincoln Center, Parade (directed by Hal Prince), Dream, Tommy, Crazy for You, Les Misérables, City of Angels, Chess, Cats, and Oklahoma!

Songs for a New World explores faith, love, community, and how ordinary people survive extraordinary circumstances. It is the first musical from Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County). The musical follows multiple characters including a captain of a ship in 1492, a flag maker suffering loss, a mother deciding to create a new life, and a man choosing to take his basketball future into his own hands. Through a moving collection of songs, this musical examines life and the choices we make.

Tickets will be available at the door and beginning September 23rd online and during selected hours at the box office. Beginning this year, all seats will be reserved. All seats $10.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time @ Milligan College Gregory Center, McGlothlin-Street Theatre

Christopher has a mystery to solve. Someone has killed the neighbor’s dog with a garden fork, and 15-year-old Christopher is a suspect. What unfolds is a fascinating glimpse into the life of a young man who registers on the highly functioning end of the autism spectrum. Christopher cannot cease his detective work until he satisfies his need for an answer as to who killed the neighbor’s dog. A richly theatrical exploration that is both touching and bleakly humorous, this play is intended for older teens and adults. On March 26, a talkback with actors, director, designers, and local special needs professionals will follow. Tickets will go on sale March 2nd. All seats are $5 and reserved.
