Building on two required and foundational courses about God’s story in scripture, students will deepen their understanding of both the Old and New Testaments. They will also explore the foundations, tasks, and cultural challenges of faithful and effective ministry. Students will develop vital practical skills such as preaching, equipping them to serve as effective communicators of the Gospel in various settings. This minor also allows students to engage with the rich heritage of the Church, learning how theological developments across time have shaped the Church and continue to influence contemporary expressions of the Christian faith.

What to Expect with a Church Leadership Minor

In the Church Leadership minor, students will study God’s story in scripture and gain a deeper understanding of both the Old and New Testaments. They will explore the foundations and tasks of ministry, as well as the cultural challenges of faithful and effective service. Students will develop practical skills, including preaching, to help them communicate the Gospel in diverse settings. Additionally, they will examine how theological developments throughout history have shaped the Church and how these teachings continue to impact the modern expression of Christianity. All Church Leadership minors are also invited and encouraged to participate in retreats, ministry expeditions, and experiences offered by the Ministry Leadership Program, which will equip them with additional practical skills for ministry across a wide range of contexts.
