Christmas concert to be broadcast on WJHL, Dec. 24 and 25

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Nov. 20, 2023) — Milligan University’s annual Christmas concert will be available for all to enjoy on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day thanks to WJHL-TV. A recording of the live Saturday, Dec. 2, concert will be broadcast on ABC Tri-Cities from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. (EST) on Christmas Eve and on WJHL from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (EST) on Christmas Day. WJHL will also provide a livestream of the concert at wjhl.com during the broadcast times for viewers outside of the region to watch.

Due to enthusiastic demand for tickets, Milligan’s Christmas concerts on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3, are sold out. A limited number of tickets will become available as unused tickets are turned in during the coming weeks and on the night of the event. Tickets for the concert are free but required.

To be placed on a waitlist for available tickets, please contact the Milligan Music Office at 423-461-8723. On both nights, doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The performances will feature Milligan’s choirs, orchestra and 46-rank Schantz pipe organ in the beautifully decorated Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Chapel. The concerts also include a carol sing-along and will conclude with a moving candle-lighting and singing of “Silent Night.”

“This concert remains one of our music program’s most cherished traditions,” said Dr. Kellie Brown, chair of Milligan’s area of music. “We love sharing this gift of music with the community in celebration of the advent of the Messiah.”

Milligan’s orchestra and choral ensembles will perform again on Saturday, Feb. 3, with the concert “How Great Thou Art” at 7:30 p.m. in Seeger Chapel.
