MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 15, 2023) — Milligan alumnus and pastor Brian Talty will present at Milligan’s annual Webb Lecture Series on Tuesday, March 21, and Thursday, March 23, at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium located in Seeger Chapel. The lectures are free and open to the public.

Milligan’s Webb Lecture Series is named for the late Dr. Henry and Emerald Webb. Webb served as a professor of Bible at Milligan for more than 40 years.

“These lectures are part of Milligan’s active relationship with the Stone-Campbell Movement and our commitment to that heritage,” said Kit Dotson, director of church relations. “The Webb Lectures are a highlight for our region’s Christian churches and Churches of Christ every year. We are grateful to the Webb family for their insight and generosity in making this lecture series possible.”

Talty currently serves as the lead pastor of First Christian Church in Decatur, Illinois. He has held a variety of roles over the last 19 of the church’s 189 years. Talty graduated from Milligan in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry and holds a master’s degree in Christian education from Lincoln Christian Seminary.

In the lectures, Talty is excited to share his experience serving a church whose origins are connected to the early days of the Stone-Campbell Movement. On Tuesday, Talty’s lecture will focus on unity, and he will speak about restoration on Thursday.
