Milligan inducts 38 members into leadership society

Milligan students inducted into NSLS

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Dec. 5, 2022) – Milligan University inducted 38 new members into its chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Gregory Center.

Dr. Shannon Hogan, associate professor of business administration, served as the event’s keynote speaker and was recognized with the Impact Award for Teaching by Milligan’s NSLS chapter.

Milligan’s chapter of NSLS was established in 2008 to help student members discover and achieve their goals. The NSLS provides members with tools for action, inspiration to hold them accountable and motivation to achieve their goals.

“The mission of this society is a good fit with Milligan because it encourages students to explore their gifts and talents and discover how they can be servant-leaders to make a better world,” said Beth Anderson, director of calling and career development at Milligan.

This year’s induction ceremony represented the return of Milligan’s NSLS chapter to an on-campus organization after going online due to COVID-19. The chapter’s return was made possible through the successful leadership of students, including Milligan’s NSLS Chapter President senior Hannah Colbaugh, of Elizabethton, Tennessee; Vice-President Jessica Farmer, a junior from Jonesborough, Tennessee; Secretary Oliva Estes, a senior from Johnson City, Tennessee; and Success Networking Coordinator Abigail Bright, a senior from Kingsport, Tennessee.

Students earning at least a 3.0 grade point average are invited to pursue membership. After accepting the invitation, the students must complete several requirements, including attending an orientation session, participating in a leadership training day and joining success networking teams. The inductees also attended three broadcasts featuring nationally known speakers.
