Milligan announces new campaign

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Oct. 28, 2021) – Milligan University kicked off a new comprehensive fundraising campaign at its Homecoming festivities last weekend.

The $40 million fundraising campaign, titled “On Mission: The Campaign for Milligan University,” will focus on furthering academic excellence and the entire student experience at the university.

“Our bold and timeless mission to honor God by educating men and women to beservant-leaders is at the heart of this campaign and all that we do,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “The world’s need for Milligan’s Christian mission has never been more clear, and our commitment to our mission has never been more certain.”

Greer explained that the university has already raised nearly $26 million in gifts and commitments toward the effort. Completed projects include:

  • additional scholarship and program support
  • growth to the university’s endowment to provide essential growth and stability
  • a new seminary honors scholarship
  • the addition of new academic programs including the Ministry Leadership Program and an addictions counseling concentration
  • the addition of a makerspace lab in engineering
  • athletics enhancements including new lighting on the university’s softball field and the resurfacing of the tennis courts
  • the renovation of the McMahan Student Center which was dedicated last week

“We are grateful for the generosity of our faithful financial partners in the establishment of new programs, scholarships and enhancements to our facilities,” said Greer.  “We look forward to future growth opportunities as we remain on mission in preparing our students to lead and serve and to meet the needs of the marketplace, the church, the community and the world.”

Remaining priorities will focus on increasing affordability for students through scholarships, developing and expanding academic programs, constructing facilities and programs to sustain community, and supporting the institution’s commitment to faith.

Facility projects include the completion of the Milligan Village with the addition of seven new residence halls; the addition of a nursing simulation lab to assist nursing and physician assistant students; renovation of the seminary chapel utilized for services, classes and other programming; the construction of a multipurpose center for athletics, academics and events; and a new track and field complex, as well as upgrades and renovation of current athletics facilities.

“The campaign’s funding priorities recognize that the Milligan experience encompasses not only the classroom, but also life together in the residence hall, in worship, in athletic competition, on campus, in care for others, and in fellowship with one another,” said Greer.

Milligan will continue to roll out details on campaign initiatives over the coming months. For more information, visit www.milligan.edu or contact the university’s Office of Institutional Advancement at 423.461.8955.
