MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (May 21, 2020) — For the third consecutive semester, students in Milligan’s area of education achieved a 100% pass rate on the edTPA assessment.

edTPA is a national subject-specific assessment that is used to measure a student teacher’s preparation and career readiness. In Tennessee and other states, students are required to have a passing score on the edTPA to receive licensure.

“We are so proud of our students and the hard work they put into this rigorous portfolio process,” said Dr. Angela Hilton-Prillhart, area chair of education. “Our students’ continued successes reflect their strong work ethic and our program’s emphasis on high-quality clinical experiences. Milligan has developed great relationships with our local school systems, and these partnerships allow our candidates to receive quality exposure to classrooms long before they begin student teaching or an internship.”

Milligan’s students were tested in the following subjects — elementary education, music education, physical education, secondary biology, secondary business, secondary English and secondary math.

Milligan’s area of education continues to “exceed expectations” on the Tennessee State Board of Education report card, and in 2019, Milligan received the state’s top score in provider impact.
