Milligan presents ‘A Toby Show’

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 1, 2017)—The Milligan College theatre department will present “A Toby Show,” the story of an American folk character, on March 23-25, at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, March 26, at 2:30 p.m. in Milligan’s McGlothlin-Street Theatre located in the Gregory Center.

With his red wig and freckled face, Toby became the most popular character in tent repertoire theatres in the early 1900s in small towns of the South and Midwest.

“‘A Toby Show’ is a rollicking, fast-paced comedy suitable for the entire family,” said Richard Major, Milligan theatre professor and director of the play. “An imaginative retelling of the Cinderella story, ‘A Toby Show’ will keep you laughing from start to finish. Milligan has assembled a stellar cast for this farcical comedy.”

Tickets for this family-friendly show are on sale now in the Milligan Bookstore, $5 each. Bookstore hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, 423.461.8733. There will be a free matinee for homeschoolers on Friday, March 24, at 10 a.m. in the McGlothlin-Street Theatre. Contact Major for more info: rmajor@milligan.edu.
