MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2015) — Milligan College students welcome their families to campus Feb. 20-22 for Family Weekend, an annual opportunity for parents and siblings to see what college life is like at Milligan.

On-campus events are planned throughout the weekend, but families are encouraged to explore and do some sightseeing in the Tri-Cities area as well.

“Family Weekend provides a great opportunity for a student’s entire family to come get a taste of a typical Buff Nation weekend,” said Kristal Dove, director of campus activities. “Whether it’s Mr. Buff, the basketball games or any of the other events that are planned, these few days will provide an excellent display of what it means to be a part of the Milligan community.”

While not required, visitors may register at a table co-hosted by Milligan’s Student Government Association (SGA) and Parent Council in the McMahan Student Center on Friday, Feb. 20, from 3-6 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m-12 p.m. Parents will receive an information packet as well as a special gift. They also can pick up complimentary tickets to Saturday’s men’s and women’s basketball games.

The college’s bookstore in the McMahan Student Center will be open on Friday during registration with a 10% discount off all purchases throughout the weekend.

Dinner in the McCormick Dining Center on Friday begins at 5 p.m., followed by an all-hall open house from 7 p.m. to midnight.

On Friday at 8 p.m., the SGA will host the annual Mr. Buff pageant, a male talent and beauty competition. Tickets are $3 per person and will be on sale at the door the evening of the event. The doors will open at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan’s McGlothlin-Street Theatre located in the Gregory Center.

Enjoy brunch on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the McCormick Dining Center. At 1 p.m., Milligan’s baseball team will play Point Park University on Anglin Field.

The women’s basketball team will play Montreat College at 2 p.m. in Milligan’s Steve Lacy Fieldhouse, followed by the men’s basketball team playing against Montreat at 4 p.m.

The women’s softball team will play Bluefield College at 1 p.m. on Anglin Field, and the men’s volleyball team will play Bryan College at 7 p.m. in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

Dinner will be served in the McCormick Dining Center from 5-6 p.m., followed by a second all-hall open house from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Saturday evening will conclude with a dean’s list ceremony at 8 p.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Chapel for families of all students named to the academic dean’s list. Dr. Melinda Collins, associate dean of the School of Sciences and Allied Health, will deliver the keynote.

On Sunday, a continental breakfast will be served from 8-9 a.m. Families are then encouraged to worship at a local church with their students and travel around the area throughout the day.

At 2 p.m., the baseball team will again play against Point Park on Anglin Field.
