Milligan launches new website to improve user experience

websiteMILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 6, 2014) — Milligan College has launched a new website aimed at improving the user experience, making it even easier for visitors to access the information they need quickly and from any device.

“It’s a whole new design,” said Tommy Parker, web developer and designer. “Some of the key factors we tried to improve are navigability and performance. We tried to make it easier for prospective students and other users to find what they need and to get it faster, reducing load times as much as possible.”

Milligan has seen a drastic increase in website traffic from mobile devices in recent years. During 2011-12, mobile devices accounted for 8 percent of total website traffic; in 2012-13, 16 percent; and in 2013-14, 25 percent of the website’s 1.3 million page views came from mobile devices.

“Mobile is quickly dominating website traffic everywhere, so Milligan’s new website is adapting to the needs of its users,” said Parker, a Milligan alumnus who has worked within the Public Relations/Marketing Office since 2010. “It will perform and look better on mobile devices than ever before.”

Milligan’s website is often the first point of contact many prospective students have with the college, as well as members of the community interested in attending concerts, lectures and the many other campus events open to the public.

“That’s why the website always has to be updated, current and cutting edge,” said Dr. Lee Fierbaugh, vice president for enrollment management and marketing communications. “I’m very pleased with the new site and the work that our own PR and marketing team have done to create it. It represents Milligan incredibly well.”
