Be a Buff Days PostcardMILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2014) — Whether you’re a “history buff,” a “sports buff,” a “science buff” or an “arts buff,” prospective students will learn what it’s like to be a Milligan College Buff at a visit day event on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Named “Be a Buff” Day in honor of Milligan’s mascot, Brutus the Buffalo, this visit day will provide high school juniors, seniors, and college transfers and their parents with a snapshot of campus life packed into one day. It includes opportunities to meet one-on-one with students and faculty, campus tours, information sessions and break-out sessions highlighting Milligan’s more than 100 programs, pre-professional degrees and concentrations in a variety of fields.

“‘Be a Buff’ Day is an opportunity for prospective students to preview what it’s like to be part of the Milligan community,” said Jason Makowsky, director of admissions. “At Milligan, students are not just part of the incoming class, they are family. Our faculty and staff help each student through their college experience. Milligan is a special place and prospective students will get a chance to see it first-hand.”

“Be a Buff” Day begins with check-in and a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. After a welcome session at 9 a.m., students may choose two sessions that meet their needs. Options include sessions on financial aid and scholarships, graduate programs and information on student life. All sessions apply to transfer students and parents.

After lunch, students and their parents will take a campus tour with Student Ambassadors. Following the tour, everyone will break out into their areas of interest and speak with professors and students about specific programs.

More visiting opportunities are planned for all prospective students, as well as those interested in specific business, nursing and honors programs this fall and spring:

  • Friday, Oct. 31—business
  • Friday, Nov. 7—nursing
  • Friday, Nov. 21—all prospective students
  • Saturday, Jan. 31—all prospective students
