Milligan Concert Choir to participate in gospel concert


Concert Choir 2013-14MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 18, 2014) — The Milligan College Concert Choir will team up with several local college and university choirs to present the gospel concert “Lift Every Voice” on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m.

Admission to the concert will be a non-perishable food item or cash donation for Second Harvest Food Bank.

The event will be held at the Wellmont Regional Center for Performing Arts Theatre, located on the main campus of Northeast State Community College in Blountville, Tenn., adjacent to Tri-Cities Regional Airport.

Alongside the Milligan Concert Choir will be the Northeast State Music Department, East Tennessee State University Multicultural Gospel Choir and King University Choir.

“Lift Every Voice” will feature African-American spirituals and will celebrate Black History Month. Each choir will present a wide variety of music from a cappella, slow to fast, and some with piano and percussion. The choirs will perform spirituals by Glenn Burleigh, Thomas A. Dorsey, Greg Gilpin, Sue Ellen Page and Matt Redman.
