Makowsky named director of admissions at Milligan

Jason MakowskyMILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Aug. 8, 2013) — Jason Makowsky has been named director of admissions at Milligan College. He began his duties on Aug. 5.

In this role, Makowsky will provide strategic direction and leadership for the college’s recruitment efforts, as well as assist in the development of marketing and communication strategies.

“After a national search, we are pleased to find someone with the experience and passion for Christian higher education that Jason brings,” said Dr. Lee Fierbaugh, vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Milligan. “His skills and appreciation for our mission will be an excellent combination as we continue to attract and retain high-quality students who want to change lives and shape culture.”

Makowsky has more than 16 years of experience in higher education, including roles in admissions, residence life and programming, international services, disability services, and career and academic advising.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in religious studies from Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion, Ind.) and a Master of Education in college student affairs from Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, Calif.).

He most recently directed undergraduate admissions at Naropa University (Boulder, Colo.). His previous admissions experience includes roles as coordinator of admissions and admissions counselor at Indiana Wesleyan. He also has extensive student development experience, as a full-time resident director at Indiana Wesleyan and six years at Colorado Christian University, where he worked with student advising and oversaw international student services. He also has taught communications and leadership courses at CCU.

“It was evident from my first email exchange with Milligan that it was a special place to work; the kind of place I knew my passions and talents would meld well with the team already in place,” Makowsky said. “Once on campus I realized this quality stemmed from a genuine community who was welcoming, loved their work, and was simply fun to be around both in and out of the office. Adding the fact that I also get to work with college students and their families in the beauty and hospitality of Northeast Tennessee, I couldn’t say no to this opportunity. My family and I are so thankful and humbled to be here and we look forward to becoming part of the Milligan family.”

Makowsky succeeds Tracy Brinn, who led the admissions office for 11 years and recently transitioned to director of scholarships in Milligan’s office of business and finance.
