Runner, Eastridge to perform duet organ recital at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Sept. 4, 2012) — Dr. David Runner and Carlene Eastridge will perform a duet organ recital on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan College’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel. The recital is free and open to the public.

Runner is an accomplished organist and professor of music at Milligan. Eastridge, a former Milligan professor, now teaches at Ashley Academy in Johnson City, Tenn., and also maintains a private music studio, Eastridge Academy of Music. The duo performed this recital for two players at one organ last June at the internationally recognized Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C.

The recital includes a variety of music, beginning with John Rutter’s “Variations on an Easter Theme.” They also will perform works by Robin Dinda, Edith Boroff, Michael Burkhardt and Kenneth Leighton. The recital will conclude with Richard Wagner’s famous “Ride of the Valkyries.”

Runner has been a professor at Milligan since 1972, where he teaches organ, piano, voice and music theory. Eastridge leads the annual Summer Arts Camp at Milligan. This week-long day camp is for children ages 7-12.
