‘Perception’ photography exhibit opens at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2012) — Milligan College senior Morgan Simmons will present her photography exhibit, “Perception,” Feb. 19-24.

The exhibit opens Feb. 19 with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Both the reception and the exhibit will be in Milligan’s Art Gallery located on the lower level of Derthick Hall. They are free and open to the public.

“I’ve always enjoyed looking at and photographing the world from a different angle,” said Simmons, a humanities and photography major. “I love the way abstract work has always made me think and perceive the world in a different light, and I have tried to bring that idea into my show.”

Simmons, a native of Ashburn, Va., uses medium format, black and white, and digital photography in “Perception.” She took the digital photographs during a trip to Ethiopia last summer.

“The digital photos from Ethiopia go along with the idea of looking at the world differently and not taking anything, even people, at face value,” Simmons said.
