Southeast Christian worship minister to teach spring course at Milligan

Greg AllenMILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 29, 2011) — Greg Allen, a worship minister at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Ky., will teach a class on Christian worship at Milligan College during the spring 2012 semester. Registration is now under way for the class, which begins Jan. 11 and runs through May 3.

The class is a semester of study focused on the leadership of Christian worship in a public context, including both practical and theological considerations. It is available for credit or audit and will meet on Milligan’s campus on Thursdays from 6-9:30 p.m. Some Friday mornings and online learning also will be required.

“This class is ideal for students or ministers who seek to study more about the biblical meaning of worship,” said Phyllis Fox, director of church relations at Milligan. “The focus of the class isn’t the music or style of music, but the one we worship and why.”

After graduating from Milligan in 1983, Allen completed a Master of Divinity degree at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He also joined the staff of Southeast Christian Church where he has served for 28 years. With more than 20,000 members, Southeast Christian is one of the largest churches in North America. Allen serves as one of Southeast’s lead team pastors and oversees several ministries including the worship ministry.

“I am humbled and excited to bring my worship-leading experience to my alma mater and share my heart for the glory of God,” Allen said.
