MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Oct. 26, 2010) – Following the announcement last week of the retirement of Milligan College President Donald R. Jeanes, effective July 2011, the Board of Trustees has formed a Presidential Search Committee that is chaired by board chair David Hamilton, vice president of Elkins Constructors in Jacksonville, Fla., and a 1986 graduate of Milligan College.

Other trustees who will serve as members of the search committee include: Tommy Burleson, president of Burleson Construction Company in Johnson City, Tenn.; Marshall Hayden, a 1963 Milligan graduate and retired senior minister of Worthington Christian Church in Worthington, Ohio; Scott Kent, a 1991 graduate and vice president and CFO of Brunswick Boat Group in Knoxville, Tenn.; John Wiggins, a 1961 graduate and retired president of Havens-Wiggins Insurance in Plainfield, Ind.; and Cal Wilson, a 1970 Milligan graduate and senior vice president of investments at UBS Financial in Johnson City, Tenn.

The search committee also includes Rick Raines, a 1986 graduate and member of the Board of Advisors, representing the college’s supporting church constituency. Raines is senior minister at Fairmount Christian Church in Mechanicsville, Va.

Campus representatives include Carolyn Carter, professor of computer information systems and business administration; Rich Aubrey, a 1985 graduate and women’s basketball coach and professor of education; Sue Skidmore, a 1965 graduate and associate dean and registrar; and Shannon Slaughter, a junior from Gray, Tenn., who is president of the Student Government Association.

The charge of the search committee is to recommend to the Board of Trustees, not later than April 2011, the candidate who, in the committee’s judgment, is most qualified to lead Milligan College as its next president. The search committee is asked to base its recommendations upon the leadership criteria and requirements already established by the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees will make the final selection and appointment.

Detailed information about the search process may be found at www.milligan.edu/president. Application materials should be submitted electronically to dhamilton@milligan.edu by January 3, 2011. The new president is expected to begin work on or about July 1, 2011.
