Milligan names new director of diversity services

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (July 1, 2010) — Milligan College welcomes Ernesto Villarreal as director of diversity services.

Villarreal will provide administrative and recruiting oversight to Milligan’s diversity efforts, working closely with all areas of the college to create a more diverse learning experience and to better prepare students for today’s global society.

“The director of diversity services is an important part of Milligan’s mission and outreach,” said Lee Fierbaugh, vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Milligan. “Ernesto has a heart and passion for multicultural ministry, reconciliation and student development.”

Villarreal is from Brownsville, Texas, and recently completed his master’s degree in higher education with an emphasis in student affairs from Abilene Christian University. He served in numerous student leadership roles with the Office of Multicultural Enrichment at ACU, including working with city officials and college faculty, staff, and students on multicultural initiatives.

He was a McNair Scholar at ACU, conducting research with the Bible department. He was also a media specialist and sound engineer for numerous student productions. He most recently served as a graduate assistant for the ACU graduate school and as an intern with the ACU career center.

Villarreal began his work at Milligan on June 21. He succeeds Nathaniel Moultrie, who is pursuing graduate school at Princeton Theological Seminary this fall.
