Milligan Orchestra presents spring concert


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (March 29, 2010) – The Milligan College Orchestra will present its spring concert on Thursday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan’s Seeger Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Dr. Kellie Brown, the orchestra will present a variety of works by Haydn, Barber, Joplin and Cowell. The concert will feature two guest vocalists. Timothy Laurio, a sophomore at Milligan who recently concluded a stunning performance in the college’s presentation of the musical “Little Women,” will perform the haunting piece “Dover Beach” by Samuel Barber.

Also featured will be Dr. Charlotte Anderson, a member of the Milligan music faculty, who will perform Haydn’s cantata “Arianna a Naxos.” Anderson is in her third year on Milligan’s faculty and is a distinguished performer and lecturer, as well as a certified instructor in The Alexander Technique.
