Church planters to speak at Milligan


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 19, 2009) – Paul Williams and Jared Witt of the Orchard Group, a church planting organization, will speak at Milligan College, Feb. 24-26. The Orchard Group, formerly “Go-Ye” Chapel Mission, Inc., began in 1948 and currently serves over 60 million people in the northeast United States through more than 50 church plants.

Witt will speak at convocation on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel. Witt and Williams will both lecture later that evening at 6 p.m. in Derthick Lecture Hall. Williams will speak again on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. in Seeger.

Williams has worked with the Orchard Group since 1979, serving as president and chairman since 1989. He also serves as editor-at-large and as a weekly columnist with “Christian Standard” magazine. Additionally, he is the head-writer and on-air host of the Worship Television Network. He has authored a series of devotional books called “Windows of Worship” as well as the book “Laughter, Tears, and In-Between.”

Witt holds a bachelor of theology degree from Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Mo., and a master’s of divinity from Yale University. He received his doctorate in religious studies from Yale University. He currently is starting a church in Manhattan called Church of the Incarnation. His research interests include historical and contemporary theology and the intersections between Bible, ministry and culture.
