Barton to present voice recital


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 2, 2008) — Milligan College music major Bethany Barton, of Mount Gilead, Ohio, will present her senior voice recital on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 pm. in Milligan’s Seeger Memorial Chapel.

The program will include early Italian “bel canto” literature, German lieder, French chansons and songs by English and American composers. Barton, a soprano, will sing the Puccini aria “O mio babbino caro,” from the opera “Gianni Schicchi,” and the famous “Gretchen am Spinnrade” of Franz Schubert.

Barton has studied voice with John Wakefield, associate professor at the college, and has been a member and a featured soloist with the Milligan College Concert Choir for four years. Additionally, she participated in the college’s production of the musical “Oklahoma” and appeared in the one-act play “Ladies of the Mop.”

Barton will be accompanied by Kylie Thiel Shedd, also a senior at Milligan College.  The recital is free and open to the public.
