Milligan College hosts Family Weekend


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (February 6, 2008) — Milligan College students will welcome their families to campus this weekend, Feb. 8-10, for Family Weekend 2008.

Family Weekend is an opportunity for parents and siblings to see what college life is like, as well as to tour and explore the Tri-Cities area. On-campus events are planned throughout the weekend, and families are encouraged to do some sightseeing in the local area as well.

The weekend kicks off Friday, Feb. 8, with registration in the McMahan Student Center from 3 to 6 p.m.  Dinner is “on your own,” followed by an All Dorm Open House from 7 p.m. to midnight. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the SUB7 Coffeehouse, located in the McMahan Student Center , Milligan faculty will entertain students and guests at the Faculty Talent Show.

On Saturday, a Dean’s List Ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Walker Auditorium of Seeger Chapel for families of all students named to the Academic Dean’s List, followed by brunch served in the McCormick Dining Center . A historical tour of the Milligan College campus will be offered from 1 – 2:30 p.m.

Saturday evening will provide many activities for families to take part in.  At 6:30 p.m. the new Gregory Liberal Arts Center will be available for tours, and at 7 p.m. there will be a showcase of o ne- a c t plays and selections from Milligan’s Concert Choir. Sharayah Cochran will be available from 8-9 p.m. in SUB7 to discuss her photography exhibit, “This Current Past: Flood Stories from Southwest Virginia ,” which will be on display all weekend. Various students, faculty and staff will perform their talents during “Open Mic Night” starting at 9 p.m. in SUB7.

Families are encouraged to attend a local church with their students on Sunday morning.
