Milligan’s new liberal arts center opens

Dedication set for Feb. 1; Tickets go on sale for opening weekend performance

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Jan 16, 2008) – Milligan College’s new Elizabeth Leitner Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts opened its doors this morning as students began the spring semester. The official dedication and opening weekend performance will take place Feb. 1-3.

The 30,410-square-foot Gregory Center, located at the center of campus, houses a 294-seat theatre auditorium, two classrooms, photography darkrooms, and backstage theatre facilities. In addition to serving the college’s theatre and photography programs, the center will be used by the college’s Humanities program, for general classroom space, and for various campus community events.

“The arts play a major role in the liberal arts education to which Milligan is committed,” said Milligan President Donald R. Jeanes. “We’re excited about this new facility and know that it will further advance our campus and serve the entire region.”

The dedication service will be held Friday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. and is open to the public.

The opening weekend production will be a special presentation of “The Witnesses,” a professional musical written by Milligan alumnus Gary Richardson. The production is the sequel to Richardson’s awe-inspiring “The Rock and The Rabbi” and features talented musicians and singers from New York City, Nashville, Orlando and Tampa Bay.

Public performances will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and go on sale to the public this Monday, Jan. 21, at the Milligan College Bookstore.
