Helphinstine to speak in chapel this Thursday


MILLIGAN COLLEGE , TN ( February 8, 2006 ) — First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City youth minister Paul R. Helphinstine will speak in chapel this Thursday, February 9.

Helphinstine’s topic is entitled “Doxology: Experiencing Wholeness through Song.”

“Music has been an amazing influence in my life and faith,” said Helphinstine. “I believe that Christian worship through song must be more than just song selection. It must remind us God’s desire for wholeness in the body of Christ.”

Helphinstine is from Indianapolis, Ind., and has resided in Tennessee for over 10 years. He earned a bachelor of science degree in history from Milligan College in 1999 and is currently enrolled in the master of divinity program at Emmanuel School of Religion.

Helphinstine taught at Science Hill High School from 1999 to 2000 and worked at Milligan College in the office of advancement from 2000 to 2002. Helphinstine later served as music director and associate minister for Harrison Christian Church from 1999 to 2002.

Helphinstine is the brother-in-law of Milligan College campus minister, Nathan Flora, and resides in Kingsport with his wife and son.
