Milligan alumna speaks about cancer survival and her mission

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 25, 2004) —Nearly 20 years after Kelly McDuffie graduated from Milligan College, she will return to her alma mater, Thursday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m., to share her amazing story of cancer survival and the calling God has placed on her life.

After several years of teaching in the public school system, McDuffie says God placed a call on her heart to  not only be an example to youth but to call them to action.

McDuffie is the founder and president of Get Real Ministries, Inc., a non-profit mission organization reaching those in need through public school rallies and national and international mission trips. The ministry has organized rallies that have drawn over 4,000 young people and has served in numerous orphanages, nursing homes and homeless shelters, both nationally and internationally.

“Being a Christian is not a state of being but a relationship with a Savior which grows everyday and calls us to action,” said McDuffie, who believes her survival from ovarian cancer is because of the call that God has placed in her life.

McDuffie graduated from Milligan College with a degree in health/physical education and a minor in biology. As a student, she played for the Lady Buffaloes basketball team. She currently resides in Baldwin, Ga.

Her 11 a.m. lecture on Thursday will be held in Seeger Chapel and is free and open to the public. During McDuffie’s visit, she will  also speak to Milligan’s senior class as part of Milligan College ‘s Institute for Servant Leadership’s Senior Forum.
