Milligan students and community to gather in prayer at National See You at the Pole Day

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Sept. 18, 2001)—Students, faculty and staff members at Milligan College will join with millions across the United States and world tomorrow morning, Sept. 19, at the National “See You at the Pole Day.” Members of the community and local churches are invited to join the Milligan community at 7 a.m. at the Sutton Hall flagpole.

“Barely a week after uncounted numbers of people lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., we have the opportunity to come together to pray for God to bring restoration, healing and hope to people all over the world,” said a representative from the SYATP ministry.

Begun 10 years ago by a group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas, as a vision to hold prayer meetings at their schools, more than one million students from Boston to Los Angeles gathered at their school flagpoles to pray that year. The SYATP ministry now estimates that more than 3 million students from all 50 states and students from more than 20 countries participate in the annual event.
