During her time at Milligan, Shannon Blowers prepared
herself for a life in the spotlight. She studied broadcasting
under Carrie Steffey and was highly influenced by Richard Major
from the theater department. In fact, she says she hasn't found
an acting teacher or mentor as special as him since she
graduated from Milligan. "He changed my life," she says, "and
gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams as an actress and
move cross country."
"At Milligan, I was able to act in plays, make my own movie,
work with other students on their productions, and do much more
than I would have been able to at a larger institution. Carrie
Steffey helped me host a TV show and deal with the deadlines of
a television production. Milligan's faculty provided such
personal attention that allowed me to grow as a person."
"The faculty also prepared me for the real world, and
Milligan's Christian environment helped me develop the strength
to move to a tough city like LA. I live and work in one of the
hardest places for Christians, and in an industry that glorifies
money, sex, and power. However, there is a growing movement of
Christians striving to change the face of Hollywood. My
experience at Milligan gave me the hope to be a part of this
movement to produce quality entertainment -- to be "the salt
and the light" of Hollywood."
