Sept. 20, 103 Milligan students gathered at the Holiday Lanes bowling alley in Johnson City for the seniors’ TWIRP event.
Milligan’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) rented 18 lanes for the night, and students who attended were allowed to bowl as many games as they wanted between 9 and 11 p.m. for $5 per person. All the money collected went to Holiday Lanes for lane, shoe and equipment rentals according to SGA Senior Class President Casey Williams.
In addition, gift certificates to Applebee’s, Starbucks, Wal-Mart and Keva Juice were given for the highest score, the most strikes in a row and a point total selected at random by SGA Senior Class Female Representatives Miriam Solomon and Mandi Oakes at various times during the night, among others.
“It seems like the seniors have always picked bowling (as their TWIRP event),” Williams said.
However, there was a twist this year: the bowling was held at Holiday Lanes instead of Leisure Lanes, which never returned any of the SGA’s phone calls.
“It was very successful because there was a much better turn-out than last year’s bowling night,” said Williams.
Junior communications major Adam Chapman added, “Holiday Lanes has a better atmosphere and was a lot easier to get to.”
