The Lady Buffs soccer team played tough Wednesday against the Lady Bulldogs of Union College, but the result was a 2-2 tie.
Junior Jenna Zutt scored the first goal of the game on a free kick. Zutt’s goal was later followed up by a goal from freshman Tiffany Brown that allowed the Lady Buffs to have the lead at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs scored with 25 minutes left in the second half, making the score 2-1. Ten minutes later, junior Katie Kiebler would receive her second yellow card of the game, which resulted in an ejection. The Lady Buffs, now playing one player down, were at the disadvantage.
Union tied up the contest five minutes after Kiebler’s ejection. The game would then go into overtime where it remained tied.
Junior goalkeeper Rosanna Couture had eight saves on the evening to aid in the Lady Buffs’ tie.
“We battled well throughout with only ten,” said Assistant Coach Lisa Buckley. “Katie's (Kiebler) red card was a little harsh, but the team came together well for a satisfactory result in difficult circumstance on the road.”
The Lady Buffs travel to Lincoln Memorial University today
for a non-conference match-up that is set to kick-off at 3 p.m.
