On Oct. 1, 16 Milligan students were inducted into Alpha Chi, an honors society for junior and senior students from any major who display high scholarship and good character.

An inductee must have a grade point average in the top 10 percent of the junior or senior class, have completed at least half the credit hours required for graduation, and taken 24 or more of those hours at Milligan.

The 2007 inductees are Kaity Aigner, Jeff Barnes, Leslie Blowers, Rosanna Couture, Abby Fiscus, Andrew Green, Anna Hampton, Autumn Pruitt, Robert Johnston, Julee Kampii, Josh Lovelace, Rebecca McDowell, Kalee Nagel, Holly Napier, Amos Nidiffer and Valerie Pallich.

As a part of Alpha Chi, they are invited to participate in the society’s annual service project, be a part of a campus wide meeting where students are encouraged to discuss a topic (yet to be announced) of academic merit and attend national Alpha Chi conventions.

Lori Mills, associate professor of psychology, and Linda Doan, professor of human performance and exercise science, are the faculty sponsors for Alpha Chi. Student officials of the honors society are elected each year after inductions.

“While the students are being honored, they also honor someone who has helped them along the way,” Mills said.

The inductees each invite a faculty member to the ceremony who has influenced their lives. They say a few words about the professor and present them with a letter honoring the relationship.

“This is another fine group of students who have been inducted,” Mills said.
