Lady Buff's drops 2 to Tennessee Wesleyan
The Milligan College Lady Buff's softball team suffered two losses to
Appalachian Athletic Conference leader, Tennessee Wesleyan College, on Sunday.
The Lady Buff's lost the games 3-2 and 4-3.
In the first game, senior Courtney Ruth went two-for-three, driving in two runs.
Freshman Laken Stewart also contributed with a double.
In the second game, junior Megan Aldridge led the Lady Buffs offensively going
two-for-four with two doubles, and sophomore Alicia Dick went two-for-three.
Freshman Mallory Tincher added to the Lady Buff's score by driving in two more
runs.
Sophomore pitcher Jennifer Wise completed the second game, going 7 1/3 innings
and allowing four runs, one earned run and five hits.
Lady Buffs sweep Bluefield
On Monday, the Lady Buffs softball team traveled to Bluefield, Va. to pick up
two wins in their Appalachian Athletic Conference from Bluefield College. The
Lady Buffs shut out the Lady Rams in the opener game 5-0 and continued their
sweep in the second game, wining 9-8.
Sophomore Jennifer Wise led Milligan during the first game, going two-for-three
with one run scored and one double. Junior Sarah Smith added to the Lady Buff's
score, going two-for-four and two stolen bases. In the top of the seventh
inning, junior Megan Aldridge hit a solo home run to make the final score 5-0.
Sophomore Jennifer Wise allowed only two runs with seven hits, in relief of
sophomore pitcher Brooke Dowdy.
The Lady Buff's continued their hot streak with their bats in the second game.
Sophomore Brooke Dowdy had a perfect offensive game, going four-for-four.
Sophomore Holly Napier added to the slugfest, going two-for-four, while junior
Sarah Smith, freshman Laken Stewart and junior Megan Aldridge went two-for-five.
Cumberland sweeps Milligan Softball
The softball team lost its doubleheader against University of the Cumberlands,
Ky. in their final two home games of the season at Anglin Field. Milligan lost
3-0 the first game and 13-3 the second.
The Lady Buff's bats were shutout the first game, gaining only two hits by
freshman Maegan Gotchall, who went two-for-three.
Sophomore pitcher Whitney Pair had an outstanding pitching performance, striking
out 14 batters and only giving up two hits for University of the Cumberlands.
In the second game, freshman Mallory Tincher and junior Sarah Smith each went
one-for-three. Freshman Laken Stewart also contributed, going one-for-two.
Milligan's record is 15-20-1 overall and is 8-8 in Appalachian Athletic
Conference.
