Milligan indoor track team competed Saturday at the Niswonger Invitational held in ETSU’s Memorial Center Mini-Dome.
Out of 31 competitors in the women’s 3,000-meter run, freshman Jacklyn Talbert finished 11th with a time of 11.00.04 and sophomore Kortney Goulds 12th with 11.00.64. Freshman Emily Schmitt finished 14th with 11.05.66, and sophomore Erika Fox finished 23rd with 11.44.53.
In the men’s 3,000-meter run, senior Chris Wright pulled through with a 20th-place finish out of 44 competitors with 9.03.68. Senior Brandon Talbert had a time of 9.17.62 and freshman Will Frye finished with a time of 9.34.38.
Freshman Ashley Pearce finished 10th in the women’s 800-meter run with 2.30.32 and freshman Kim Hogan came in with 2.44.89.
Both the women and men finished well in the distance medley relay, the women with a 7th-place finish and the men with an 8th-place finish. The relay, consisting of 400-meter, 800-meter, 1200-meter and one-mile runs, featured four members from each team. Talbert, Gould, sophomore Brittany Bales and senior Marta Zimon came in with a finishing time of 12.59.80 for the women. Wright, Fry, Talbert and junior Jair Collie finished with 10.48.68 for the men.
Senior Megan Lease ran in a separate 3,000-meter run. By invitation, nine of the fastest 3,000-meter times coming into the race competed against each other. Lease placed 7th with a national qualifying time of 10.20.63.
The track team will compete this weekend at the Mountaineer Winter Open in Boone, N.C.
