As spring semester 2006 gets
underway, new members of The Stampede editorial staff are working hard to bring
a fresh perspective to a newspaper that focuses on campus issues and what you as
readers want to know. Before we try to get to know you, we would like to
introduce ourselves.
Junior Amanda Moore is
hopping into the position of editor-in-chief. An English major from Bristol,
Amanda may be small but she’s got a big personality. She brings to the staff
superb organizational skills and an intense love of grammar. In her spare time,
she reads the dictionary.
Your Stampede Assistant
Editor is freshman Kristen Oxley, a communications major with an emphasis in
journalism. Kristen comes to you from Canton, Ohio. She serves on the newspaper
editorial staff and as a freshman class representative for SGA. In her spare
time, she reads the atlas.
Sophomore Anna Gindlesperger
may want to wave the Terrible Towel at The Stampede staff if they don’t get
their stories in on time. An English major from Pittsburgh, Anna has switched
over from the assistant editor position to that of the copy editor this
semester. She has no spare time.
Adding to the mostly female
staff, senior Marta Zimon manages to take time from her busy schedule to work as
the newspaper’s production editor. This cross country runner adds pizzazz to the
staff with her Polish accent and friendly personality. If she had spare time,
she would spend it with her family in Poland.
No newspaper would be
complete without a taste of Texas supplied by freshman business major Annie
Simpson as advertising manager. Annie crunches numbers with the best of Bill and
Bob while working on human relations skills by serving the Elizabethton
community at Applebee’s. In her spare time, she dyes hair for Sutton girls.
Being a thorn among the roses, or perhaps the other way around, freshman Jason
Spencer took on the position of photo editor. Jason, a communications major with
an emphasis in public relaions, comes from Louisville, Ky. Like Kristen, Jason
can be seen frequenting SGA meetings as he, too, serves as a freshman
representative. He spends time with The Stampede ladies.
These lovely editors would like to see The Stampede become more of a community
effort. They think it should be not only a place to read of events and news but
also a way to connect with one another and strengthen the Milligan community.
