Milligan’s men’s and women’s soccer teams controlled the field at Brevard College last night, shutting out both teams with scores of 6-0 for the women and 3-0 for the men.
In the women’s game, goals were scored by freshman Dagmar Yr Arnadottir, senior Cora Deakins and sophomore Kristin Zutt. Sophomore Katie Lindemann contributed two goals to bring the final score to 6-0.
“We possessed and moved the ball around really well,” said Lindemann. “We have the Covenant game coming up on Saturday, and we have been improving every game so that’s a good sign.”
The win brings the Lady Buffs’ record to 3-3-1 for the season and 2-0-1 for the conference. The women host Covenant College (Ga.) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Following the women’s game, the Milligan men took the field in an effort to continue what the women started. The only goal scored by either of the teams in the first half was by senior Ali Mohamed on a penalty kick. Sophomores Caleb Bollman and David Lilly each added goals in the second half. After 90 minutes of play, Brevard was shutout for the second time that night with a final score of 3-0.
The Buffs move to 3-4 for the season and 1-2 in the conference. The men next go head-to-head with Covenant at home on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
